Do you know the feeling? The sense that the most beautiful season is over, that the leaves are starting to fall and everything gradually seems to be getting a little gloomier? Normally I struggle with that every year, but this year I haven’t had the time for it. On every side there is building and renovating going on within Forever Plants. Curious? In this article I’ll bring you completely up to date on everything that is happening!
Building work in and around the greenhouse
We are busy renovating the barn. It had become too small to handle the growing stream of orders! So at the moment we are working hard to expand the barn considerably. In the meantime we have also installed fans and insect netting in the greenhouse, to give our beautiful plants an even better climate.
If you drop by, you will see that the entire Zwethlaan is dug up. This is because we are going to be connected to the Trias geothermal energy project! So we will soon be able to heat our greenhouse in a much more sustainable way, because we draw the warmth from the ground. There is hardly any energy more sustainable than that!
Forever Plants doesn’t stand still
The internal organisation is constantly being fine-tuned too. We always want to create new challenges and try different team compositions, in order to arrive at the optimal situation. Our colleague Halina, for example, first worked in the delivery team, but can now be found in the office, where she strengthens the sales team. Paulina has taken over her tasks as team leader of the delivery team!
We have also taken on a number of new colleagues. Leon has come to strengthen our cultivation team and makes sure our plants can grow healthily. And at Plantsome, too, a new colleague has arrived: Laura has come to support Axel, something Axel was really ready for!
In addition, there is a group of students walking around who are going to try to improve the sorting process for the yuccas. We are very curious about the outcomes of their research.
Busy, busy, busy
I myself am busy with our collaboration with the World Horti Center, the Trias Westland cooperative and the reconstruction of the Broekpolder. And is that everything? Certainly not! At home we are also busy renovating our living room. As you can imagine: I have little time for the autumn feeling! Let winter come, then I’ll go into hibernation for a while… 😉
